A Western North Carolina man will spend more than a decade and a half in prison after a deadly shooting there in 2022. Officials say 53 year old, Shane Archie Waters pleaded guilty this morning to 2nd degree murder. Court records show that the victim 47 year old, Daniel Case had been reported missing months before Waters was arrested.
Investigators say a woman identified as Cecelia Goodman was found driving Case's vehicle. She told officers she had was driving Case's car and Waters was in the vehicle. The two men reportedly began arguing over her, she pulled the car over and said that Waters shot Case.
The woman then drove Waters away from the scene. Goodman has been charged with accessory after the fact. Case's body was later found in the woods off of Pinnacle Mountain Road in Hendersonville. Waters is set to serve between 16 and 21 years in the North Carolina State Prison System.
