Jinkies! There's no more need to speculate about the sexuality of "Scooby-Doo"'s Velma Dinkley.

After years of debate, the orange turtleneck-wearing, spectacled character is finally being depicted as an LGBTQ character on screen.

The revelation that Velma is attracted to women was made official in the new movie "Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!," which was released online Tuesday and will debut on Cartoon Network on Oct. 14.

In the movie, Velma crushes on another female character, a costume designer and villain named Coco Diablo.

"It honestly did not occur to [me] that we were doing something so groundbreaking until right now," the movie's director, Audie Harrison, told NPR.

"I actually thought it was a bigger deal for Velma's character that she is in love with the villain of the movie. The fact that she is a girl is just... well, a fact," Harrison added. "That being said, it does feel great to be a part of normalizing representation, especially with such a well-known franchise like Scooby-Doo!"

Producers of certain iterations of the show have previously confirmed that Velma isn't straight, but this is the first time she has outwardly flirted or expressed attraction to another female character in the decades-long history of the franchise, NBC News reported.

Filmmaker James Gunn, who wrote the live-action "Scooby Doo" and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed," said in 2020 that he tried to write Velma as a lesbian, but the Warner Bros. studio wouldn't allow it.

"In 2001 Velma was explicitly gay in my initial script. But the studio just kept watering it down & watering it down, becoming ambiguous (the version shot), then nothing (the released version) & finally having a boyfriend (the sequel)," he tweeted at the time.

"Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! was released digitally Oct. 4 and will debut on Cartoon Network on Oct. 14.
