Dan Hardee is the familiar voice keeping you company on the drive home every weekday from 3 to 7 on 99.5 The Mountain.
Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Dan’s love for radio started young—he was just 7 when his dad gave him a hand-me-down FM receiver. He grew up on a steady diet of Rush, Def Leppard, and Van Halen, which sparked a lifelong passion for music and broadcasting. That path led him to a Broadcasting degree from Colorado State University–Pueblo.
He landed his first media job just two days after graduation, running studio cameras at KOAA-TV. Radio quickly followed, with his on-air career beginning at 92.9 Peak FM. He moved to Denver in 2011 and joined 99.5 The Mountain in 2016. In 2022, he was named Program Director, helping shape the sound and direction of one of Denver’s most beloved rock stations.
In addition to his work on the air, Dan is passionate about using radio to make a difference. He proudly leads the annual Project Sanctuary Radiothon, raising support for military families, and lends his voice to Angel Eyes, helping families who’ve experienced the sudden loss of a child. These causes are deeply meaningful to him, and he’s proud to use his platform to support their missions.
Dan is also a lifelong entertainer, hosting trivia nights, karaoke events, weddings, and private parties across Colorado. Whether he’s on stage or on-air, he loves bringing people together and keeping the energy high.
Off the clock, Dan enjoys spending time with his fiancée and stepdaughter, exploring trails, relaxing on patios with friends, and yes—binge-watching a good series now and then. At 6-foot-8, he’s easy to spot—but it’s his heart, humor, and passion for radio that truly stand out.
