While people around the world continue to keep person-to-person contact at a minimum, necessities such as groceries lead to an unavoidable risk. That’s why one butcher in New York came up with a way to sell meat to customers without them having to enter the store. Kevin McCann created a meat vending machine that allows customers to buy meat 24 hours a day.

Located in Rochester, New York, outside McCann’s Local Meats, the viral meat vending machine has been a huge success, as customers look for ways to remain socially distanced. “The response has been unbelievable. On Saturday, I was cutting and restocking the machine four or five times,” said Kevin McCann, the head butcher and owner of the market. According to McCann, he and his mentor have been using the refrigerated meat vending machines for years.

“With the coronavirus and [our efforts> to keep people safe, it just seemed like a no-brainer idea to implement at this time, as an added service to what we already do,” said McCann. With business doing well, thanks to the vending machine, McCann and his employees have remained busy keeping the machine stocked with fresh cuts. Even when quarantine is over, the vending machine is likely to remain.
