As some businesses begin to reopen, the concert industry still isn’t ready for full scale events yet. While some musicians have continued to perform via live streams, fans are counting down the days until they can see their favorite artists live again. With some predicting that may not be a possibility until 2021, some industry insiders are looking for solutions, including potentially using a disinfectant mist when entering a venue.
Already many venues around the country are attempting to find ways to reopen sooner than expected. Some are looking into low capacity events, while others are looking into companies developing hazmat-like suits for concerts. However, in the U.K. the National Arena Association is looking at South Korea, who has successfully put on shows using a disinfectant mist at a venue’s entrance.
“The test case in Seoul—where a Phantom Of The Opera production has continued running—has seen audience members walking through a light mist of disinfectant, having their temperature taken, and filling in a questionnaire about their symptoms and recent places they’ve visited,” said Craig Hassall, the chief executive the Royal Albert Hall. While a mist at the entrance may seem odd at first, if it reopens concert venues sooner, plenty will be interested.
