While most that are born in Texas are full of state pride, even those that come to the Lone Star State later in life quickly find out why it is so beloved. Now, a bear from the St. Louis Zoo is about to find that out as well, as it is being sent to a zoo in Texas in hopes that it stops trying to escape. The Texas zoo has a moat, and though that may stop the bear, like many others the bear may get here and decide it never wants to leave again.

The St. Louis Zoo recently announced their Andean bear named Ben will be sent to the Gladys Porter Zoo near South Padre Island in Brownsville, Texas because it keeps trying to escape from the zoo. Not only does the Texas zoo have a long history working with Andean bears, the habitat also features a moat to prevent wandering. "We’re confident it’s going to be good for Ben," said Walter Dupree, the Texas zoo’s curator of mammals.

According to Fox News, Ben was able to escape twice back in February, so the bear is currently living in a nonpublic area of the St. Louis Zoo, Soon, Ben will be in Texas and in no time it’ll be a true Texan that is fine staying put.
