We wish that headline was a joke. But no, it’s a reality.

One of Dallas’ most beloved live music venues the Granada Theater has announced it will shutter its doors and be converted into a bathhouse.

Owners Mike Schoder and Julia Garten announced the deal late last week. Per the Dallas Morning News, the final show at the Granada will be April 17.

This also brings the end of Sundown at Granada, the restaurant right next door to the venue that Schoder and Garten opened 14 years ago. The Granada Theater has stood on Greenville Ave. for 80 years.

Schoder and Garten purchased the theater in 2004.

The theater has been sold to two businessmen from New York, who plan to open Texas’ first Bathhouse concept, featuring saunas, steam rooms, and thermal pools. Bathhouse currently has three locations in New York City and one in Philadelphia. Locations in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois are expected soon.

And now Dallas, apparently.

The Grenada is expected to be fully converted into the Bathhouse by 2028.
