Fort Worth police no longer arresting, citing people caught with small amounts of marijuana despite it being illegal

In Fort Worth police are no longer arresting, or even citing, people caught with small amounts of marijuana, even though it is still an illegal drug in Texas.

The Fort Worth Police department says the reason for the change is because of issues with testing.

Defense attorneys have raised questions about how to differentiate between marijuana and hemp, which Texas legalized last year. Hemp is the plant used to make CBD products.

Some attorneys insist that testing labs are not qualified to determine the difference between the two.

Marijuana enforcement policies vary widely from city to city, and even county to county, and that has created a lot of confusion in the state.
