Going on a treasure hunt may seem childish to some, but when real money is involved; just about everyone turns into a pirate. Come next month, DFW is expected to be full of pirates as the world’s largest outdoor escape game comes to the metroplex. The Pirates Treasure Hunt will take place in Downtown Dallas on October 16, as participants search throughout the city for buried treasure.
Produced by Florida-based firm City Scavenger, The Pirates Treasure Hunt is a part escape-room experience, part outdoor scavenger event that tours around the country. Their next stop will be in DFW, where groups of two to six can sign up to search for prizes throughout the metroplex. “City Scavenger uses proprietary technology to lay out a virtual where-is-it board game across the city and engages swashbuckling teams … to explore various sites where virtual pirates test your knowledge, your powers of deduction, and your creativity before providing pieces of the treasure map,” said Steve Tishman, chief creative and event producer.
According to Dallas Culture Map, the top prize for the winning team will be $300, with another $60 prize going to the team with the best costume. Tickets are $50 per team and are currently on sale. Expect to hear plenty of pirate talk come next month.
