Bhagavan "Doc" Antle, an animal trainer featured in the Netflix series "Tiger King," has been indicted on animal cruelty and wildlife trafficking charges.
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring said after a months-long investigation Antle and Keith A. Wilson, the owner of Wilson’s Wild Animal Park in Frederick County, trafficked lion cubs across state lines to South Carolina, according to CBS News.
Antle, who owns Myrtle Beach Safari Park in South Carolina, was indicted on one felony count of wildlife trafficking, one felony count of conspiracy to wildlife traffic, four misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to violate the Endangered Species Act and nine misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.
Wilson was indicted on multiple charges of wildlife trafficking, conspiracy, animal cruelty and violating the Endangered Species Act.
Two of Antle’s daughters were also charged with misdemeanors for animal cruelty and violating the Endangered Species Act. According to TMZ, neither Antle nor his daughters have been taken into custody.
Antle’s “Tiger King” co-star Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, also known as “Joe Exotic,” is currently serving time in prison for the murder-for-hire plot against animal-rights activist Carole Baskin.
Baskin recently competed on the new season of “Dancing with the Stars,” but was eliminated following her third performance.
