Texas has grown quite a bit over the last few years. With many companies deciding to pack up and move to the Lone Star state, a number of cities have seen increases in residents, jobs, businesses and more. Now, yet another California based company has decided to jump on the bandwagon and move to Texas as well. Infrastructure giant AECOM recently announced they will relocate their global headquarters to DFW, joining a growing list of companies making similar moves.
AECOM is a multinational infrastructure consulting firm that is the driving force behind projects such as the high-speed rail and the proposed Texas hyperloop. The company already has a presence in DFW, with 1,200 employees at their Dallas office, but will soon be joined by CEO Troy Rudd and select corporate leaders. According to WFAA, AECOM employs 47,000 professionals worldwide and had revenue of $13.2 billion in 2020.
“It's another example of a California company that thinks that they can do a better job of doing business in Texas, and so we're just thrilled. It's a big win for our area,” said president and CEO of the Dallas Regional Chamber, Dale Petroskey. AECOM is the sixth Fortune 500 company to move to Texas over the last few years. Soon enough there won’t be any businesses left in California.
