A cybersecurity attack may have resulted in the personal information of more than 3 million Texans exposed.

According to NBC DFW, the cybersecurity incident involved a vendor that manages license sales for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The department issued a release that said driver's license numbers, passport numbers (if provided), email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses may have all been released, though Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial information, including credit card details, were not accessed during the incident.

Texas Parks and Wildlife officials said in a statement, “We recognize the seriousness of this issue and have identified and implemented additional security options to better protect customer information.

"Many of our staff are hunters and anglers and were affected by this incident. We are committed to continuing to work with the license system vendor to implement increased safeguards to prevent future incidents.”
