Occasionally during her interviews with celebrity guests, Kelly will also work in a mini-musical moment, and luckily for Helms, he got to partake. Mid-interview, The Hangover actor shared that he had been working on learning to play a new song on the banjo. Of course, the instrument just happened to be placed right behind the couch. Kelly laughed, as she said to the audience, “this wasn’t planned, is the important thing.”

With his banjo in hand Helms tells Clarkson, “Obviously, the banjo is a folk instrument. This is an old tune and you might know it because it's kind of traditional. If you do know it, feel free to sing along."

The comedy actor promptly begins to sing the opening lines of “Since U Been Gone” aka a Kelly Clarkson standard. After the American Idol winner laughs she quickly begins harmonizing along with Helms, adding, “I like the banjo version!”

The pair sang through a chorus and a verse and then Ed showed off with his own added flourish, which prompted Kelly to give him a standing ovation. “No joke, I might be calling you,” she smiles. Then the superstar adds, “I’m just saying, I feel like we just connected. The energy was nice.”

Finally, she jokes, “in all the years I've been doing that song, we are now going to release a banjo version. I'm going to change the timing of it. That would be amazing.”
