For years, the only thing someone could do if they felt they were receiving bad customer service at a business was to complain to the manager. Luckily, the internet gave people the ability to vent their frustrations with businesses online, and many have chosen that path; leaving scathing reviews for future customers to read. Now, one business has taken action, suing a Texas man after he left a negative review about their business online.

Tim Castleman of Lubbock, Texas recently left a review for an Irish company he had done some work with online. According to Castleman, he hired the company to help grow his online business, but an error made by the company ended up costing him $8,000. After attempts to deal with the issue privately, Castleman decided to write a negative review instead, eventually leading to the lawsuit.

“I just say ‘Hey as a customer, here is what I experienced with this. For a lot of people, $8,000 would sink them, as it did with this business,” said Castleman. According to KXAN, the company asked him to remove the post, claiming they were owed over $300,000 for defamation. If the judge sides with the company, the internet may soon look very different.
