The Pokémon franchise made its U.S. debut in 1998, and it’s amazing to think that almost 30 years later, their trading card game is more popular than it’s ever been.

Collectors will pay multiple hundreds of dollars, even thousands, for rare cards on the market. Manufacturers can’t print them fast enough.

Which is why a card manufacturer is seeking incentives that will allow them to print even more.

Next week, the Dallas City Councill will consider providing Cartamundi an $11 million tax credit that will let them expand their manufacturing facility in South Dallas which will allow them to print even more trading cards for both Pokémon and Magic the Gathering.

Cartamundi is a Belgian company is a Belgian company that has been making cards since 1765, though Dallas has served as their headquarters since 2009. Their facility is located at 5101 Highland Place Drive.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the tax credit would go towards new production equipment to improve efficiency, as well as upgrades to the building to support said equipment.

The Dallas City Council will meet on November 10 to consider the incentive.
