Does your state still require face masks? Check this list to find out

Earlier in the month, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated Americans do not need to wear face masks indoors, indicating a positive step forward in the COVID-19 pandemic for the nation.

With COVID-19 cases significantly dropping across the United States, more states are lifting restrictions.

However, the latest face mask guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confused many Americans.

In April, the CDC reported that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks when they are outdoors, unless they are in a big crowd of strangers.

According to the new guidance, fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask at outdoor gatherings or outdoor restaurants, but should continue to wear masks at crowded events like concerts and sporting events.

Vaccinated or not, people are no longer being told to wear masks when they go for a walk, bike ride or run outdoors either alone or with members of their household and can take off their masks at outdoor gatherings if all the other guests are fully vaccinated.

In an interview, Dr. Fauci said that people across the country are not quite getting the new changes that the CDC has released.

“I think people are misinterpreting and thinking that this is a removal for the mask mandate for everyone,” Fauci said. “It’s not, it’s an assurance to those who are vaccinated that they can feel safe outdoors or indoors.”
