Although Damon Albarn of Blur fame, now frontman of the widely popular animated band Gorillaz, was a little worried about the wind whipping up chaos this weekend in the California desert, things were certainly shaping up to be a unique and magical event before it was time for their set on Friday.

"I'm extremely lucky because I get to do a lot of different things," he explains. "I have very different sorts of personas, really. I'm always the same within them, but with Blur, it's a very different kind of music... variety is definitely the spice of my life."

"I've got some really exciting things coming up," he adds. "I'm gonna make the next Gorillaz record; [Artist] Jamie [Hewlett] and I have decided we're gonna make it somewhere where we've never even been before. A whole different kind of cultural landscape."

Gorillaz' latest offering, Cracker Island, is out now.
