
Charlie Robinson, best recognized for playing Mac the court room clerk the 1980’s and 90s sitcom “Night Court” has died at the age of 75 on Sunday.

A rep told the Hollywood Reporter that Robinson passed away at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center from cardiac arrest with multi-system organ failure due to septic shock from cancer.

Born in Houston, Robinson began his career as a theater actor and singer for R&B groups Archie Bell and the Drells and Southern Clouds of Joy. In the late 1960s, Charlie attended Chris Wilson’s acting school, Studio 7, at the Houston Music Theatre. He soon moved to Hollywood, Today reports.
Throughout his 50-year career, Robinson appeared on the big screen and on stage.

Beyond his hit role on “Night Court,” Robinson appeared movies such as "Secret Santa," "The River," "Set It Off," "Antwone Fisher," "Jackson," "Even Money" and "Miss Lettie and Me," and TV series including "Buffalo Bill," "Home Improvement," "Mom," "Hart of Dixie," "NCIS" and "The Guestbook,” the Hollywood reporter says.
The outlet also tells fans that the late star achieved a Best Actor, Image Theatre Award and FRED Award for his portrayal of Simon in The Whipping Man, a Best Actor Ovation Award for his role as Troy Maxon in the 2008 production of Fences and won the Camie Award twice for films Secret Santa (2003) and Miss Lettie and Me (2002), which also starred Mary Tyler Moore and Burt Reynolds.

Robinson also guest stared in television shows include “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Key and Peele,” “This Is Us” and “Malcom & Eddie.”
Robinson is survived by his wife Dolorita, his children, Luca, Charlie, Christian and Byron, and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters is law, and dog, Nala.
