Held in upstate New York, the 400,000 attendee event was mired by incredible heat, broken bathrooms, expensive water and just all-around poor planning leading to quite a few unhappy concert goers. Eventually, the crowd turned violent, setting fire to plywood barriers while multiple reports of rape, sexual assault, and looting also occured.

Event organizers Michael Lang and John Scher explain “the day the nineties died” in the new film, detailing what exactly went wrong, as well as interviews with artists like The Roots, KORN, Jewel, Creed, and more -- and of course, some of the unlucky attendees themselves also share their experience.

Electronic artist Moby says it perfectly in the trailer; “We got off the bus, and I thought 'something’s not right.'”

“You had kids rolling around in what they thought was mud,” one of the festival attendees says, remembering that it was not mud at all, but the contents of tipped over porta-potties. Good times... Check out the trailer for Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage above.
