Grab those warp whistles and put on your tanooki suit: today is the 30th anniversary of the North American release of Super Mario Bros. 3! All these years later, it's still the third best selling NES title of all time. I remember this commercial like it was yesterday:
So very 90s. Here in 2020, there are a bunch of ways you celebrate. You can actually play SMB3 on the NES Classic or Switch. You can watch some truly amazing speedruns on Twitch: the World Record 100% run clocks in at just one hour and ten minutes! Or you can watch one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time... The Wizard.
Super Mario Bros. 3 came out in North America 30 years ago today.

Most people in the United States were first introduced to the game via the 1989 film "The Wizard" starring Fred Savage.
This is also one of the very first (if not the first) Hollywood films to feature esports. pic.twitter.com/Ha0OZq7B3q
To this day, I still tell people "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad." What a film. And if you REALLY want to deep dive into the game, here's a delightful written tribute. Happy bday SMB3!
