Be honest. Were you right now years old when you found out Natalie Imbruglia didn’t write or even introduce “Torn?” The '90s adult contemporary-easy listening-light FM omnipresent cry for help was originally done by the alternative group Edna Swap.
The song was originally released in 1995 and given the lyrical subject matter fits a hell of a lot better with the sonics of '90s alternative than whatever watered-down musicality Imbruglia was utilizing. The track, of course, overshadowed in years since by its more famous pop counterpart, was not without famous admirers - one being Howard Stern, who had the group on his show in 2000.
