NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Teens who get their first COVID-19 vaccine dose at two pop-up sites in New York City could score free tickets to the Governors Ball Music Festival, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Wednesday.

The festival, which runs from Sept. 24 to Sept. 26 this year, donated 125 tickets to New York state to support its #VaxtoSchool initiative, which aims to boost vaccinations among 12- to 17-year-old New Yorkers, Hochul said at a news briefing.

The tickets will be available to teens who get their first shot at Mosholu Montefiore Community Center in the Bronx, or at Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens in Astoria, she said.

This year’s Governors Ball lineup features artists including Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Phoebe Bridgers and J Balvin.

“We want to get those numbers up higher, and we’re going to be focusing on some ways to convince [teens],” Hochul explained. “Billie Eilish is going to be there, and Post Malone, so I think there’s going to be a lot of people that want those tickets.”

New Yorkers can visit ny.gov/vaxtoschool for additional information about the initiative, Hochul noted.
