Coachella is back, and fans are super excited to see their favorite artists and bands! Moments before the jam-packed lineup hit the festival stages, Audacy caught up with Bishop Briggs backstage–live from the desert.

Noticeably pregnant and glowing, Briggs wore a heart shaped bralette and matching baggy pants. “There’s something specifically magical about the desert and Coachella,” Briggs tells Audacy’s Nicole Alvarez. The “Higher” singer performed at the Outdoor Theatre Friday afternoon (April 15) on day one of Coachella.
The iconic music festival hasn’t occurred since 2019. Like many artists, Briggs was excited to return to the live music scene. “I think we are force fields of energy,” she expressed. “And we are bouncing off of each other, so when we’re all in one place I just think it’s electric.” Rehearsing and actually performing pregnant has been a bit of an adjustment for Briggs. She jokingly mentioned that she has newly mastered her breath control while singing. Interestingly, the Alternative artist considers the exchange between her live music and the audience’s energy satisfying.

During the candid backstage conversation, Briggs and Alvarez played a few games such as “true or false.” Briggs hilariously had to guess which band names were real or not. The two also ran down a list of “festival do’s and don’ts.” Apparently, PDA is a “do” and caring too much about what you’re wearing is a “don’t.” Lastly, Alvarez suggested baby names to Briggs based on this year’s festival lineup.

Aside from her Coachella set, the "River" singer recently dropped new music. “I just released two new songs which was terrifying and fun,” she announced. “This song called ‘Art of Survival’ and this song called 'High Water.'” Briggs says “High Water” is a special record because it’s about her sister, who died last year after her battle with ovarian cancer. Furthermore, releasing new music was a positively scary and vulnerable process for her personally.
