Pearl Jam headlined the Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park, NJ over the weekend marking their first live performance with fans since their show at Fenway Park on September 4, 2018. A lot has changed since that performance, which is a massive understatement, but their set at Sea.Hear.Now certainly ushered in a new era for Pearl Jam.

One of the big changes is the addition of Josh Klinghoffer to Pearl Jam's live lineup. Klinghoffer spent a decade as the guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers before he was replaced with John Frusciante in late 2019.
A representative for Pearl Jam confirmed to Consequence Of Sound that Klinghoffer has joined the band as a touring musician. During their set this past weekend, Klinghoffer played guitar, percussion, and sang backing vocals.
The performance also marked the live debut of several tracks from Pearl Jam’s latest album Gigaton. The record, which was the band’s first since 2013, was released back on March 27, 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced Pearl Jam to postpone their 2020 tour meaning the live debut of several Gigaton tracks came nearly 18 months after the album was released.
