San Diego County To Make Facial Coverings Mandatory in Public

Don't forget your mask at home!

Effective May 1, San Diego County is requiring that facial coverings be worn in public. This comes just a few days after both National City and Chula Vista announced that they would be making it mandatory for facial coverings to be worn in public settings.

This includes:

  • Waiting in line to go inside a store
  • Shopping in a store
  • Picking up food at a restaurant
  • Waiting for or riding on public transportation
  • Riding in a taxi or rideshare vehicle
  • Seeking healthcare
  • Going into facilities allowed to stay open

The county had already issued an order requiring all essential employees to wear facial coverings.

Although the requirement doesn't officially go into effect until May 1, city leaders are urging San Diegans to begin wearing facial coverings immediately.
