The Padres were busy over the weekend, as they declined Nick Pivetta's $14 million club option for the 2027 season. Pivetta held a player option but it converted into a club option after he spent 147 days on the injured list. Pivetta will become an unrestricted free agent, but could still return to the Padres on a new deal. The Padres also picked up Kyle Hart's $2.5 million option for 2027, after making 46 appearances in 2026 with a 4.92 ERA. Left-handed relievers Yuki Matsui and Wandy Peralta also decided not to opt out of their contracts, and will remain under contract with the Padres in 2027.
