While taking away the awards for Best Alternative Music Album for her latest, All Born Screaming, as well as Best Alternative Music Performance for her single “Flea” and Best Rock Song for “Broken Man,” at the 67th GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 2, St. Vincent, 42, slipped in the fact that she had a wife and daughter.
During the pre-show amid her Best Rock Song win for “Broken Man,” St. Vincent thanked all of her fans, fellow nominees, engineers, and artists involved saying, "I love you all so much. It's an honor just to be in the same world where you all exist again," before adding, "This is just a delight, a real delight. Thank you to my beautiful wife Leah,” and “our beautiful daughter," before noting "this record was obviously a labor of love. Making records is like building a house when you have no floor plans and you don't know what wood or concrete is," she added about the recording process.
“We’ve kept it under wraps,” St Vincent confirmed to reporters in the press room, joking, “The child is young, just to be clear, the child is young,” adding the secret has been kept for just a short time. “I’m gonna play at the top of the show, which is really fun," she added. "I have my sisters in town and we’re just going to make the night ours, and probably be in bed by 10 if all things go well.”
Congrats to St. Vincent and all of the 67th Annual GRAMMY winners. It was another incredible show as Kendrick Lamar, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga + Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Shakira, Kacey Musgraves, Doechii, and many more walked away with honors at 'Music's Biggest Night.'
