The Rockies jumped all over the Padres on Tuesday night, handing them a 9-3 loss and ending their 8-game winning streak. Former Aztec Cole Carrigg blasted two home runs and accounted for five RBIs, while Colorado accounted for six extra base hits and went 4-10 with runners in scoring position. The Padres actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to solo home runs from Fernando Tatis Jr. and Luis Campusano, but Carrigg's 2-run blast tied the game in the third inning. Austin Hays launched a solo homer to left field to put the Padres back on top 3-2, but that would be the end of the Padres' scoring. The Rockies scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, punctuated by Carrigg's 3-run homer, putting the game out of reach for the Padres. The silver lining in this game was that the Padres avoided using their high-leverage relievers, with the majority of the damage coming against Wandy Peralta and Randy Vasquez. Robbie Ray will attempt to start a new winning streak on Wednesday when he takes the mound for the Friars.
