PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) -- Ben Roethlisberger says he only wants Le’Veon Bell back with the Pittsburgh Steelers only if he wants to be a part of the team.
“To me, that’s the bigger question, if he wants to come here and be a part of this team, then absolutely," Roethlisberger said. "I mean, he’s one of the best players in football. Why wouldn’t you want an extra weapon? Why wouldn’t you want a guy that can come do some special things on the football field?”
Roethlisberger also seemed to indicate that if Bell comes back, James Conner should remain the starting running back.
“Give James [Conner> a break, things like that," Roethlisberger said. "It’s only if he wants to. We don’t want someone to come out here just because he has to or he feels obligated or whatever it is. If he wanted to be out there with us, then yes, we’ll welcome him back.”
Roethlisberger said during his weekly show on The Fan he hasn’t heard from Bell and doesn’t believe anyone else on the team has.
”I don’t think anybody has heard," Roethlisberger said. "Everybody I’ve talked to, no one has heard anything.”
