SAN FRANCISCO (95.7 The Game) -- Farhan Zaidi, the San Francisco Giants' new president of baseball operations, is reportedly willing to part ways with one of the leading members of the old guard: Madison Bumgarner.
Per MLB.com, the Giants are open to moving the three-time World Series winner and have already engaged in “preliminary” discussions with at least two suitors — the Milwaukee Brewers and Phillies Phillies.
“Broadly speaking, the circumstances are ripe for Bumgarner to be dealt,” Jon Morosi writes. “Zaidi has been given broad latitude to reshape the organization, and a trade of Bumgarner would begin to replenish a farm system that is not among the best in baseball.”
Back on Nov. 7, when Zaidi was introduced at AT&T Park, the exec alluded to a potential Bumgarner deal:
Bumgarner doesn’t turn 30 until next August, but the left-hander has struggled to stay on the mound in recent years, combining for 38 starts in the past two seasons.
