Ben Affleck is not here for your criticism of his massive phoenix tattoo.
Last year, critics had a lot of negative things to say about his back ink after he was photographed shirtless on the beach showing off the intricate design.
The tattoo’s reveal came as an added shock to fans, because the actor had previously told Extra it was “fake for a movie.”
But now the 46-year-old is opening up about the contentious body modification and addressing some of the haters on Ellen.
"It's a phoenix," the Triple Frontier star told the daytime talk show host, who jokingly added: "Rising from your a**.”
"Yes, it's a phoenix rising from my a**," Affleck continued. "And I was about to say it represents something really important to me, but you know what? Maybe just, we'll skip that. It's meaningful to me. I like it."
While he didn’t elaborate on the actual meaning of the skin etching, once could easily see symbolism between some of his recent personal tribulations and a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Regardless of the actual significance, Affleck double downed on his affection for his tattoo despite the online scorn.
“We didn't know the paparazzi was there so they got a picture of my tattoo and yeah the sentiment ran against, (but) I love my tattoo. I'm very happy with it."
And that’s all that really matters, anyway!
Affleck’s latest film, Triple Frontier, co-starring Oscar Isaac and Charlie Hunnam, is streaming on Netflix now.
