Maisie Williams Responds to 'Game of Thrones' Sex Scene

Maisie Williams has assured “Game of Thrones” fans that they weren’t the only ones shocked to see Arya Stark’s first sex scene in the show.

Williams took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal that as awestruck as fans were at the intimate take, her family was surely more disturbed. “If u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my step dad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too,” she writes.

As it turns out, Williams’ family weren’t the only people close to home who were shocked at the idea of Arya getting it on with Gendry. Williams herself revealed that she thought the whole idea of the scene wasn’t real when she received the script.

“At first, I thought it was a prank,” she told Entertainment Weekly. When the table read for the episode came around, she accepted that it was actually going to be happening.

For Williams, it wasn’t just any old sex scene, though. The whole thing was extremely important to the actress because of what it meant for her character. “It was really interesting because it’s a very human relationship for Arya. This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with,” she explains.

Still, the sex scene continues to get the meme treatment on Twitter with fans trying to hold themselves over until the next episode is available. Most fans are super proud of the young Stark girl.

Some have even been waiting for this romance to blossom for quite some time now.

Meanwhile, others have admitted that while they’ve been able to watch Arya do some unspeakable things in the past, this scene was just too much for them to bear.

Still, it’s worth noting, as Williams has, that as uncomfortable as a lot of fans feel, at the very least, we didn’t have to watch our daughter or sister act it all out for us.
