Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Reveal Private Royal Birth Plan

It doesn’t matter if you’re a royal super-fan, an occasional royal news scroller, or an indifferent consumer in the world of royal news – everyone is itching for any details at all about the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child. But even with the birth of Baby Sussex just weeks or possibly days away, it looks like we’ll have to be patient when it comes to getting the specifics.

Buckingham Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to keep the birth of the baby private. The palace has said in a statement that the family will be happy to share the exciting news “once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

It seems Markle has decided to keep the press at bay during her delivery, especially considering Markle is reportedly hoping for a natural, home birth.

It’s a big change from the birth announcements coming from Prince William and Kate Middleton over the years. Historically, Middleton has arrived at the delivery room prepared to make an immediate public announcement on the steps of the hospital once the babies have had their first baths – a tradition started by Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Though it would certainly be exciting to know all of the facts the second it happens, it shouldn’t surprise us that Markle and Prince Harry have decided to keep things under wraps. It’s been clear since the beginning of Markle’s pregnancy that the couple has decided to take a different approach to welcoming a royal baby than those of the royal parents who came before them.

Previous reports have revealed that Markle has rejected Queen Elizabeth’s royal obstetricians in the name of bringing in her own, female-led team of experts.
