Ben Roethlisberger Has Successful Surgery on Throwing Elbow, Will Return to NFL

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had surgery on his right elbow on Monday.

The Steelers team spokesperson, Burt Lauten, issued the following statement:

“Ben Roethlisberger had successful surgery on his right elbow on Monday in Los Angeles at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the procedure in consultation with Steelers Team Physician Jim Bradley, who began his career at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

Once Ben returns to Pittsburgh, he immediately will begin working with the Steelers’ medical staff on his rehabilitation, and he is expected to make a full recovery and return to the field for the 2020 NFL season.”

Roethlisberger injured his elbow late in the second quarter during the Steelers-Seattle game on September 15th. He did not play in the second half, watching from the sideline as backup Mason Rudolph took over.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced that following Monday that Ben had an MRI on his right elbow and it was determined by the Steelers’ medical team that he would need surgery and would be out for the rest of the season.
