NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rosario Dawson may be born in New York City but she says she's now a "Jersey girl" after moving in with her boyfriend, Sen. Cory Booker.

During an appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show" that aired Thursday, Barrymore said to the actress, "I'm so happy to see you. Rosario, I know you've moved east, kicking it in Newark with your boyfriend."

Laughing, Dawson said, "Yeah, I'm a Jersey girl now. I didn't see that coming!"

Booker is also the former mayor of Newark.

When asked by Barrymore how she likes it in the Garden State, Dawson said, "I'm learning a lot of different Jersey factoids, to be sure. Jersey -- the home of saltwater taffy."

Dawson, 41, and the Democratic lawmaker, 51, have been dating for about two years since meeting at political fundraiser for a mutual friend.

Dawson appeared on the show with Retta, and discussed their new podcast, "And Nothing Less: The Untold Stories of Women’s Fight for the Vote."

One of Dawson's upcoming projects is being a celebrity judge on a new competition series called "Go Big Show," premiering next year. The show will be hosted by Bert Kreischer. Other judges include Snoop Dogg and Jennifer Nettles.
