How Tom Brady Supported New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft When His Wife Died

BOSTON (WEEI.com) -- There aren't many new stories that get told about Tom Brady, but New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told a new one Wednesday morning when appearing on "Good Morning America."

“When my wife of blessed memory passed away almost eight years ago, he was there for me in a way only my sons were, and the guys in the locker room were," Kraft said of Brady. "He cares, and he connects, and I think he’s able to do that in the huddle, even with guys half his age. They see how hard he works, and what he does, how genuine he is.”

Myra Kraft passed away from cancer during the summer of 2011.

Kraft said nothing has changed with Brady since Kraft first met him in 2000 after he was drafted.

“He’s still the same guy that he was when he came out of Michigan and I met him, that skinny beanpole coming down the steps with that great physique that you speak about,” he said, while noting Brady's 2000 NFL combine photo. “He’s the same person today as he was when he was fourth on the depth chart back there in 2000."

Monday was Kraft's 25th anniversary of buying the team.
