We’re nearing the end, my friends! We’ve finally reached the infamous Fantasy Suites Week oh la laaaa. This is drawn out over two nights so I will condense 4 hours of nonsense into a short(ish) recap for you. Can we all just agree that two nights in a row is too much? Any excuse to drink wine during the week but geez! I am tired.
Bachelorette Fantasy Suites: Part 1
Our Bachelorettes and their suitors are in Mexico. Gabby walks up to Rachel and says, “Is that my two favorite things?! Rachel and Champagne!” Gotta love her.
Rachel and Gabby sit down and act as the hosts of their own season… asking each other questions about the guys. Where is Jesse? Is his flight delayed?
They discuss the importance of the Fantasy Suite, and getting that time away from the camera to really talk even though they just want to, in the words of Gabby, “play, giggle, and chase each other around naked.” LOL
Rachel’s Thoughts on her remaining guys:
Tino - The first one that she felt really strong feelings for. However his family wasn’t accepting of her or the process.
Zach - Every single piece is there with Zach, but she doesn’t think she’s “there” with him yet.
Aven - Great foundation and continue to build on it. She feels like she’s falling in love with him for sure. Whoa!
Gabby’s thoughts on her remaining guys:
Jason - He is the most emotionally available to her… uhhhh lol is he?
Johnny - They have so much fun together. But she thinks they could be in two different places in life. Spoiler: they are.
Erich - She told him she was falling in love with him because it’s true. Cute.
Gabby and Erich’s Date
I’m assuming Gabby is wearing a white thong bikini on TV because a black box covering her butt will serve as the third wheel on this date. They go cliff jumping. *Facing fears, taking the leap, etc. etc.* Gabby is contemplating jumping off the highest cliff for what feels like hours. I mean honestly just don’t do it. It’s going to hurt and you will be bruised (speaking from experience!) Erich helps her work through her fear and take the leap. Adorable.
They chat. One of the weirdest lines is Gabby telling Erich, “I just want to crawl inside you…” Yikes.
Gab brings up her family drama. Erich’s like you turned out awesome it’s all good. He says he’s in love with her and doesn't want to leave here without her.
Time to forgo their individual rooms and hit up the Fantasy Suite!
The cameras join them the next morning, it looks like things have gone well until a very long, drawn out awkward goodbye.
Rachel and Aven’s Date
They’re on a yacht. Aven’s face is like ‘oh cool, another boat.’
Rachel asks Aven if he can genuinely see them getting engaged in 2 weeks, he’s like yeah girl let’s do it. Rachel gives a longwinded speech about using the “L word” only to tell Aven she is in fact falling in love with him.
They spend the night in the Fantasy Suites and the next morning Rachel tells Aven not to ‘forget about her’ and ‘don’t forget I’m falling in love with you!’ We got to work on this girl’s confidence. She’s so sad to watch.
Rachel and Tino’s Date
They go horseback riding for their date. Rachel brings up his family and how much they suck. He assures her that they will come around if they were to get engaged.
They declare their love for each other. It would be kind of cute but I can’t stand either of them. They hit up the Fantasy Suites.
Gabby and Johnny’s Date
We don’t see much of their date because well, we all know this isn’t going to work!
Johnny tells Gabby he’s not ready for an engagement. Duh. They say their goodbyes. Johnny tells the camera, “My feelings are numb. I don't know how I feel right now. I feel like I'm upset.” And that is the funniest thing I’ve heard all episode. See ya in Paradise Johnny!
more drama
Back in her hotel room there is a knock on Gabby’s door. A card is delivered that says something like “I need to see you, I’ll be waiting at the bridge.” It’s gonna be Erich… Okay, yup, it’s Erich!
Gabby tells him she thought it might be her grandpa. LOL.
Erich tells her he doesn’t have anything to say to her really he just wanted to see her but then he proceeds to tell her that he’s going to be crushed if she sleeps with other guys. Gabby is upset by this because they apparently had this whole conversation in the Fantasy Suite away from cameras and now he’s bringing it up again to make her feel bad/look bad. She walks away… TO BE CONTINUED……
Bachelorette Fantasy Suites: Part 2
First, can we address why Erich is wearing work boots at a Mexican resort?
Gabby comes back to Erich, they talk, blah blah. Gabby’s still kind of annoyed with him. She feels like he shouldn’t have brought it up again on camera when they discussed it at nauseam off camera.
Gabby ends the scene by telling the camera, “We don’t have the best way of communicating but he has always fought for me and I have always fought for him.” That’s healthy.
Gabby and Jason’s Date
Gabby shares that “I’ve been looking forward to this day because I know he’s a really private person.” I will never understand this claim for people on this show. You are on a reality dating show. How private of a person can you be!?
On the date they play tennis. Jason was a "tennis star" in college. They have fun. Gabby’s tennis outfit is cute. Later they go to the pool and of course Erich’s going to hear Gabby giggling from his balcony.
After a great day together, Jason tells Gabby at dinner that he doesn’t think he’s fully there yet. He doesn’t know what’s real and what's not real. He doesn’t think he’ll know the difference in another 7 days. He then goes on to tell her that he doesn’t think she knows him yet and he doesn’t fully feel like he knows who she is. Oooof did he just hit her with ‘he can’t see ANY future with her’!?!? Like not even dating outside of this bubble? Why are you on this show?!
Poor Gabby. She gets up and leaves the table. She goes back to the table. Jason pretty much says ‘I like you. I just don’t know if I can propose’ etc. They’re like ya still wanna go to the fantasy suite and “talk” ;) yup yup.
Cut to the morning and Gabby tells the camera, “waking up I’m hurt and I’m devastated. Last night with Jason, once we got behind closed doors we were talking in circles. I was like maybe it’s just not meant to be. And he was like yeah definitely.” Geez laweez. Like when were you going to tell her that?!
Gabby goes to break things off with Jason for good. He is such a dud.
Gabby has a complete breakdown. “I tried so hard to not be reckless with other people and he was reckless with me. He never loved me. It’s not even that he didn’t want an engagement, he didn't want me. Is it me? What is it about me that’s so hard to love? Am I too broken for anyone to love? It does take the right person to know how to love me and they might not be here.” That is a lot to unpack.
Rachel and Zach’s Date
Rachel and Zach kick off their date with multiple tequila shots. Rachel is like ‘it’s so good’ and Zach is like… *cough, dying* “Yeah, so good.” LOL we’ve all been there.
They talk about Zach’s family and how awesome they are. Not sure how they don’t mention Uncle Puddy?!
Highlights of this date include the crazy amount of back sweat on Zach and yeah… that’s about it.
At dinner, Rachel rehashes Clayton drama yet again and sums it up with ‘I do see a future with you.’
They forgo their individual rooms to spend the night in the Fantasy Suite but apparently things don’t go that well. It’s very awkward to watch them in the morning, right down to the fact that they apparently don’t like the same kind of coffee. Rachel makes a comment that Zach likes his coffee like he ‘just chewed the beans up’ whatever that means and Zach gives a look like that’s the dumbest thing he’s ever heard and he hates her now. LOL.
He leaves and goes to chat with Jesse. He shares that “fantasy suite night was not the night I expected. We’re having the important conversations about religion, politics and all that stuff and it just seems like she wasn’t the same Rachel. Our conversation was very inauthentic.” Apparently she also kept questioning whether he was really ready for a proposal because he’s only 25…. but she’s only 4 months older than him. Drama drama drama.
Rose Ceremony
Jesse tells Rachel that she is the only Bachelorette tonight. (He neglects to mention that Gabby only has one guy left).
Zach interrupts as Rachel’s about to give out a rose, and asks to speak with her.
Cut to Gabby showing up at Erich’s room. Summary of their conversation: “You’re the only one left! I love you!”
Awwww! Erich’s crying happy tears.
Gabby tells him “there’s no point in having a rose ceremony, it’s just you and me.” Very valid. Thanks for not making us watch that.
They promise a whole lot of drama to still unfold next week on the Finale Part I! Stock up on that wine, my friends.
