PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)Phillies fans waiting with bated breath for the home opener against the Atlanta Braves will now have to wait another day. With rain in the forecast for Thursday, the Phillies have postponed Opening Day to Friday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.

The Phillies, in a statement, said they made the decision to postpone Thursday's opener after talking with Major League Baseball and various weather services.

As Yogi Berra famously said, "It's déjà vu all over again."

Astute fans will remember that the Phillies postponed their home opener because of a rainy forecast last year, too. And it turned out to be a beautiful day.

In any case, Friday's forecast — sunny to partly cloudy and windy — looks better than Thursday's. All of the Opening Day pomp and pageantry will take place just 24 hours later. Tickets for Thursday, March 28, will be honored on Friday, March 29.

The forecast isn't affecting Philadelphia only. In New York City, the Mets have also postponed their opener, too.

But we don't really care about them, do we?
