The 14th Annual Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Upstate Radiothon, presented by The Gilstrap Family Dealerships, raised $158,055 for Children’s Hospital – Upstate, helping sustain the many programs and services that support children and families during a hospital stay.
The majority of fundraising occurred during a live two-day virtual radio broadcast that concluded earlier this evening on Audacy South Carolina's seven stations: 106.3 WORD (WYRD-FM), ESPN Upstate (WYRD-AM), Classic Rock 101.1 (WROQ-FM), 93.3 The Planet (WTPT-FM), Magic 98.9 (WSPA-FM), B93.7 (WFBC-FM) and The Block (WFBCHD2). Additional funds were raised through online, text-to-give, and drive-to-retail donations that accrued in the days preceding the live broadcast.
Radiothon helps fund an array of services not covered under a normal operating budget that make a hospital stay more comfortable for patients and families. This includes items needed for everyday care and play such as iPads and toys, specialized medical equipment and special needs car seats. The funds also support larger programs including a facility dog program and summer camps that Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Upstate sponsors free of charge to patients.
Prisma Health Children’s Hospital serves all of upstate South Carolina, western North Carolina and eastern Georgia. The money raised during Radiothon impacts more than 400,000 pediatric patients each year.
