Big Will Bets: Notre Dame vs. Ohio State CFP Championship Picks

Audacy football expert Will Ortner reveals his best bets of the week

Welcome back to Big Will Bets: Weekend Winners. Unfortunately, it is our final article of the college football season. Don’t worry though, I will still be finding us winners throughout the NFL Playoffs, but I will miss this season of college football. The first year of the 12-team playoff has been truly chaotic, and that’s why college football will always have a special place in my heart. Now, without going too crazy, let’s get into the picks.

CFP National Championship: Ohio State -9.5 vs. Notre Dame

There is only one way I see Notre Dame winning this game. Defensively, Notre Dame will have to come up with multiple turnovers for their offense. Then their offense will have to take advantage of the turnovers and score touchdowns, not field goals. This Ohio State offense is too powerful for the Fighting Irish to beat if they are only kicking field goals. If these things don’t happen, I don’t see Notre Dame winning this game.

Ohio State on the other hand, can win in a variety of different ways, and if the Buckeyes defense can stop ND’s run game, they will win in a blowout. If this game turns into a defensive battle, Ohio State’s defense is better and healthier than Notre Dame’s defense. Also, the Buckeyes beat Indiana and Penn State by more than the Irish did. Feels like an easy bet for a winner.

Notre Dame had a great season and they are a great team. Unfortunately for them, and everyone else in the country, Ohio State finally is playing to their true potential. Yes, I wish this spread were a bit smaller, but I trust Ohio State to cover.

Ohio State -9.5.

Fun Bets That Were Responsibly Made

This is a new part of the article where I placed some prop bets strictly on feel, and I wagered a responsible amount. Now, some of you may be asking if I’m on tilt and firing bets because there are no more college football games this year. To which I say, DUH!

Quinshon Judkins Anytime TD (+100).

Judkins is the Buckeyes' power back when they get near the goal line. If Ohio State gets within Notre Dame’s five yard line, expect Judkins to get the ball.

TreVeyon Henderson Anytime TD (+104)

Henderson is the Buckeyes' other running back and has a little bit more of a chance to hit a big play for Ohio State. Henderson had the big screen pass TD vs Texas to end the first half, and has had multiple big play TD’s this season. If either back scores a TD, we get our money back and with Henderson we get a little extra back.

Emeka Egbuka Anytime TD (+114)

Egbuka is the Buckeye’s No. 2 receiver, but this might be the only team on which he’d be a No. 2 receiver. Egbuka is fast, runs crisp routes, and has unbelievable hands for such a young wideout. His TD catch in the Rose Bowl vs. Oregon was unreal. Egbuka will go against Notre Dame’s second best corner in an already beat up secondary. Don’t be shocked if Egbuka finds paydirt with all of the focus on Jeremiah Smith.

Jeremiyah Love Anytime TD (+140)

This is simply a respect and high-value play. Love has been huge all season for Notre Dame and despite his knee injury in the playoffs, he has had an important play in every playoff game. The man just continues to find ways into the endzone. I do not believe that Notre Dame will be shut out in this game. That means Riley Leonard or Jeremiyah Love will more than likely score a TD. Love was the plus money option. Seemed like the correct bet.

Grande Finale

With this being the final article of the college football season, it didn’t seem right to include any NFL bets. We should all just enjoy this title game as the finale to such a fun college football season. Cherish it while you can, because we won’t have this feeling again until August!
