The talk of the NFL this season has been the Washington Commanders, but not even the most optimistic analysts could have predicted they would be playing in the NFC Championship this season. Truth be told, this was a team that had a win total of just 6.5 before the season began, so oddsmakers didn’t even think they would make the playoffs.
All of the attention immediately goes to rookie QB Jayden Daniels, and rightfully so, as he has been something of a revelation that has gone beyond Washington’s wildest dreams. While he has been unbelievable, he probably doesn’t get this far without some others also stepping up to the plate.
One player that has seemingly been ignored to this point is WR Dyami Brown, but I think some are starting to take notice of just how good his play has been. With the attention that star WR Terry McLaurin receives, Brown has really taken advantage of his anonymous status to this point. However, soon it is going to be hard to argue that he deserves the same kind of attention.
According to Dataroma on X, Brown has been a monster in these playoffs:
Looking at those stats, there is no question that he has been unreal so far in the playoffs, and he is taking advantage of having McLaurin opposite him. Defenses won’t be able to just simply double McLaurin now, as Brown has proven that if you do that, he is going to burn you and be a major contributor for this offense. The coaching staff and Daniels himself have to be ecstatic with the way he has stepped up in the biggest games of the year.
The Philadelphia Eagles await them in the NFC Championship, and that is not going to be an easy challenge for Brown or this passing attack as a whole. They ranked 1st in the NFL in passing yards allowed and 1st in yards per play, so they rarely ever give up explosive plays through the air. If Brown can continue to have success against the best passing defense in the league, I think it is time to start really having a discussion about his potential to become a legit No. 1 target.
As for now, the Eagles would be remiss not to start paying attention to his growth, or he is going to be their undoing on Sunday.
