The NFL Conference Championships will kick off this weekend, with the NFC and AFC Championship expected to draw thousands upon thousands of wagers at the sportsbooks. The NFL is the most bet on sport in America by a pretty substantial margin, and you can imagine the amount of cash that gets wagered on the conference championships.
Over at BetMGM, our friend John Ewing was kind enough to share some of the data from his book on where the public is investing in for these conference title games. Specifically, what player props are getting the most attention from bettors. These player prop bets have the most tickets on them this weekend at BetMGM.
Eagles WR AJ Brown Over 55.5 Receiving Yards vs. Commanders (-115)
The most bet player prop in either championship game this weekend is Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown to go over his receiving yards prop of 55.5 against the Washington Commanders. Since Brown is the No. 1 target on the team, it is less than shocking he would get a lot of bets to go over his line, but I am a bit surprised he is the most bet prop of the weekend. Washington actually ranked 3rd in the NFL against the pass this season, one of the best defenses in the league through the air. Couple that with quarterback Jalen Hurts recent struggles and possible injury, and this one seems a bit puzzling to me. However, bettors clearly don’t care about any of that, and are all over this one at MGM.
Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Over 20.5 Longest Rush vs. Commanders (-140)
The second most popular player prop at BetMGM is taking Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to go over 20.5 yards as his longest rush. Now, this is a bet that is less than shocking. Everyone loves Barkey with the way he has been performing this season, and coming off of a game in which he broke several huge runs downfield against the Los Angeles Rams, you might expect this one to be a pretty popular bet. Washington also ranked 30th against the run in 2024, setting up a great matchup. In addition to being the second most bet prop ticket wise, Ewing also mentioned that 99% of the money is on the over for this prop as well, making it one of the biggest liabilities for the book in terms of props.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy Over 4.5 Receptions vs. Bills (-135)
The most popular player prop in the AFC Championship game belongs to Kansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy, and for him to go over 4.5 receptions against the Buffalo Bills. The rookie is already the No. 1 target on a Chiefs team that lacks serious weapons on the outside, and now he gets to face a Bills defense that ranked just 24th in the NFL against the pass. Much like Barkley, Ewing mentioned that a whopping 99% of the money on this prop is on the over, making it a large liability for the book. We’ll see if the speedster can cash in for the public, or if he disappoints for the book.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Over 68.5 Receiving Yards vs. Bills (-125)
I would have actually thought that this would be the most bet prop in the AFC Championship after the 117 yard performance from Kelce against the Texans, turning back the clock as he did. However, the public is still solidly on this one, as it ranks as the fourth most bet player prop of the weekend at MGM. As I just mentioned, he went off against Houston in the Divisional Round, and now gets a Bills defense that is ranked 24th against the pass. It seems like Kelce, now that he is in the latter stage of his career, saves his energy for the postseason. We’ll see if he can deliver once again for the public, but interestingly, this one does not have 99% of the cash on one side.
Bills RB James Cook Over 54.5 Rushing Yards vs. Chiefs (-130)
I think the Bills RB is highly underrated relative to how good he has been this season, but it seems like people are finally starting to come around to him since he rounds out the five most popular player props of the weekend at MGM. Cook actually led the NFL in rushing touchdowns this season, and has been key to Buffalo’s dominance this season. It won’t be easy for him this weekend, however, as the Chiefs ranked 8th in the NFL against the run. That has not stopped people from betting his over, clearly.
