2025 Genesis Invitational PGA Betting Picks: Top Contenders & Longshots

With the tournament moving to Torrey Pines, here’s who we’re backing to win, including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and a longshot bet on Tiger Woods.

The Genesis Invitational has been relocated from its usual venue, The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego due to the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The tournament is scheduled to take place from February 13-16, 2025, on the South Course of Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.

As such, that can make a huge difference in who you might normally wager on for this event, so make sure to adjust accordingly. Torrey Pines features many challenging, long, and narrow fairways that only the best of the best are able to master. Here are some of my picks for who will win the 2025 Genesis Invitational!

Scottie Scheffler To Win (+400)

This one shouldn’t be shocking at all, as I put something down on Scottie for every single tournament he participates in. How can you not? All this guy has done the last few years is win, and he is the best golfer on the planet right now. Scheffler’s ability to limit mistakes, and even thrive under difficult conditions and circumstances, make him a unique talent. At Torrey Pines, where mistakes can kill you if you are unable to keep them at a minimum, this ability is crucial for success.

So far in the 2025 season, Scheffler has been fantastic as usual with no signs of a drop off. He’s ranked 8th in total strokes gained, and his putting has improved dramatically to this point, up to 29th. Since the season is just starting, these numbers will change, but this is Scottie we’re talking about. I’ll take him at 4/1 almost every time on any course, he has just been that good at everything he does.

Rory McIlroy To Win (+650)

Rory may have issues when it comes to being clutch at major championships, but this is not a major championship, and he has been phenomenal at Torrey Pines in his career. Perhaps no golfer has had more consistent success at this course in recent years. He finished tied for 5th in 2019, tied for 3rd in 2020, tied for 16th in 2021, and tied for 7th at the 2021 U.S. Open that was held here. This has been one of his best courses over the last six years, and hopefully, he can continue to have that kind of success for us and come away with a win at long last.

McIlroy has only played in one event for the 2025 season, which was a victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he was spectacular with a score of 21-under Obviously, one event isn’t enough to gauge how he will play overall this season, and he doesn’t even have enough strokes to register statistically yet. Still, it is hard to say he is going to fall off when he dominated his first contest. With his consistent success at Torrey Pines and coming off a great performance, I like getting +650 on him to win again here.

Tiger Woods To Win (+20000)

This is very unlikely to happen, but hey, throwing some baby peanuts on Tigers to make headlines isn’t the worst bet you can make. As you probably know, Woods has been going through injury after injury, and his age has certainly started to catch up with him. He’s clearly not even close to the golfer that he once was, but this is a guy who has made a living off of impossible performances and built a career off of it. Would it really shock you if he came back from injury here and won again? The PGA would love the publicity.

The only real reason to believe that could happen is how incredibly successful he has been at Torrey Pines in his career. He has eight victories here, including that memorable 2008 U.S. Open win in a playoff over Rocco Mediate, and holds the record for most wins at a single PGA Tour course. He knows every hole here like the back of his hand, and even if his body may be starting to fail him, the knowledge and success that he has on Torrey Pines will give him a distinct advantage over some others.

It’s a 200/1 shot, so again, probably not going to win. However, sprinkling some longshots is a must at these non-major events, and Woods fits the bill.
