There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Dodgers will be one of the best teams in MLB for the 2025 season, with some saying they have a chance at being the best team in history. Their roster is stacked, loaded in both their offensive lineup and pitching rotation, and their win total right now is sitting at an otherworldly number of 104.5. There are very few teams in MLB history who have sniffed a win total that high, so can anyone beat the Dodgers this season? Or are they the team of destiny with too much money to ever be defeated?
Chris Mack and Kate Constable, who are filling in this week on Bet Sweats for the BetMGM Network, discussed this topic.
“This team continues to stack talent upon talent upon talent,” said Mack. “They are an All-Star team, and everybody else in major league baseball is kinda fighting for the scraps. So look, there is no value on any of these futures whether it is World Series, Pennant, or Division. 104.5 wins, I don’t know if I can confidently bet either side of that. If they do stay healthy, they will probably obliterate that number and win 110 games. If they have some of those health and injury issues they had last year, they might only win 100. It’s ridiculous the parameters we build around the Dodgers when we talk about them.”
Constable agreed with Mack, essentially saying that it has become a no-contest in the NL West.
“Do we even need to talk about this division? I mean, it is the Dodgers. Their win total, you talk about how high that is, this is the highest win total since the 1999 New York Yankees. That says a lot, that is a long time. Not only were they phenomenal last year, but they got even better this offseason. You really want to say maybe there is value on the Padres, maybe there is value on the Diamondbacks, crazy things happen in baseball and you have 162 games. However, history has shown us that even when those crazy things happen to the Dodgers, they figure out a way to continue to win games and continue to win the division. Most teams, their division odds are around +225, which is what the Dodgers World Series odds are. That is insane.”
She concluded by telling it like it is, the cold hard truth in baseball right now.
“There is an argument to be had for some of the other teams, but do I realistically think they are going to win this division and be able to beat the Dodgers with how stacked their roster is, pitching staff is, bullpen is, and everything is? Probably not.”
Personally, I think the only value you can get with this team right now is taking the under 104.5 wins. That is an insane number to have to surpass, even for this team, and I think there is a chance that they take it a bit easier in the regular season. They won’t push guys because they want them available in the postseason, and it is pretty much a given that they will get there even if they had half of this roster as it currently stands.
