The Four Nations Faceoff is underway, which has replaced the NHL’s All-Star break, so teams are currently on hiatus as some of the top players in the world battle it out for their country. Now is a great time to take a look at the futures market, and see where the teams are right now to win the Stanley Cup. Since the start of the season, we have seen some major line movement going on as the first half came to a close. Teams have either been performing above expectations or below expectations, and their price has moved accordingly.
Our friend John Ewing, who works in the data department at BetMGM, shared some of the latest odds movement in the market for which team will bring home the Stanley Cup. The biggest movers in the market were surprisingly all major favorites, and their odds have done nothing but get shorter as the season has gone on.
The Edmonton Oilers opened the season at 10/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup, and they have played so well that they are now just +575 to capture a championship. The Carolina Hurricanes are right behind them in terms of line movement, starting the season at 11/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup, and now moving all the way down to +650. Lastly, the Toronto Maple Leafs have seen their odds shift from 16/1 to 12/1 to finally bring Canada a Stanley Cup.
