PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In Chester County, a 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of two women, including one who was pregnant, while authorities said a toddler was sitting inside the vehicle where police found the women.

The District Attorney’s Office and Valley Township Police said Mamadou Kallie of Coatesville is facing charges including first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child and carjacking.

Investigators said that on Sunday at about 9:20 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute in Coatesville where Kallie was reportedly present. Police spoke to both Kallie and the victim and eventually left.

About a half-hour later, police went to a location on East Glencrest Road near Brick Row. The District Attorney’s Office said officers found two women with several gunshot wounds, with a 1-year-old child in the backseat.

One of the women, whom police say was five months pregnant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second woman was taken to the hospital where she died. The 1-year-old was not physically hurt.

Around 10:45 p.m., West Chester police went to investigate a reported carjacking at the intersection of Strasburg and Telegraph roads in East Bradford Township. A victim said he was held at gunpoint while his car was stolen, according to investigators.

Authorities said officers pursued the vehicle, which was stopped in Caln Township just after 11 p.m. Sunday night. Kallie allegedly then held a gun to himself at the scene, but investigators said police were able to get him to peacefully surrender and take him into custody at about 11:40 p.m. The District Attorney’s Office said that police recovered the firearm.

Kallie was being held Monday night without bail.
