Medical Report: When buried by bad health news, small wins lead to bigger wins

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Medical researchers warn that an all-or-nothing approach to problems can increase stress and ultimately increase health problems for individuals.

The inability to celebrate small wins or solve seemingly small issues in our personal lives can affect our sense of well being and overall health. A 45-minute workout, or skipping desert, should be celebrated and not buried by the need to lose 10 pounds or run two miles a day.

This philosophy can harm us as a group, as well. For many, the response to COVID-19 was one of extremes. Masks and vaccines had to be 100% or they were seen as worthless. For those who treat patients every day, the lesson is clear: Small wins lead to bigger wins.

Every journey requires a first step.
