Video shows suspect run up behind 77-year-old near his Juniata home, shoot him in head

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are trying to identify the person who shot and killed an elderly man who was returning for an early-morning walk near his Juniata home on Tuesday.

Authorities say it happened at L and East Bristol streets at 5:30 a.m. The 77-year-old man was shot once in the head on his way home and died at the scene.

The police department released surveillance footage showing the suspect running up behind the victim and shooting him. He then continues running forward.

The suspect was wearing a red hoodie, gray shorts and red athletic sneakers.
