PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 76-year-old man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning while on his way home from a walk in his Juniata neighborhood.
Police say it happened near L Street and East Hunting Park Avenue at 5:30 a.m.
The man was shot once in the head on his way home and died at the scene.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10 that the victim was just feet away from his front door.
“This is a tragic homicide,” said Small. “Why someone would shoot a 76-year-old male returning to his home after taking his morning walk — which [his] family says he does on a regular basis — we don’t have a motive right now.
“We don’t know if robbery was a motive. We don’t know if this individual was targeted for some reason.”
No arrests have been made.
