Joel Embiid’s status just got a whole lot worse.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Sunday that the 76ers star will undergo a procedure on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus.

It is uncertain how long Embiid will be out, as the team has not announced a timeline, but it will be for an extended period of time, per Wojnarowski.

The team announced on late last week that the reigning MVP sustained a meniscus injury in Tuesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors but the extent of the injury was unclear.

Embiid, who leads the NBA with 35.3 points per game, previously tore the meniscus in his left knee during the 2016-17 season and missed the final 37 games. He also played through a meniscus tear of his right knee in the 2021 playoffs.
